OHSU’s Oregon Community Cancer Research Collaborative (OR-CCRC) and Knight Cancer Institute Community Partnership Program are offering weekly FREE walking groups! OHSU researchers are seeking participants for a study examining the benefits of a participating in Step It Up! Survivors walking program and how it impacts participants’ health.
Social support has been shown to help us make lasting increases in being physically active - cancer survivors and their friends and family members are invited to attend together! You are not required to participate in research to attend these walking groups.
Step It Up! Survivors has walking groups in 8 Oregon communities.
You are encouraged to participate if you are:
- 18-70 years of age.
- Have had a previous cancer diagnosis.
- A participant in Step It Up! Survivors walking program (in any Oregon location)
Those who choose to join the study will be asked to complete questionnaires online and at 3 different time points.
- Before the beginning of the walking program
- 3 months – directly after the end of the walking program
- 5 months later – during the maintenance stage of the walking program
We expect it will take participants about an hour to complete these questionnaires. If you are interested in participating in this research, please follow this link: https://octri.ohsu.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=9TMYPE737C
